Day 10 LA: Hats on Caffeine

The coffee shop was an uppity thing. It was known for its extravagant decor, an homage to some obscure cult movie. It had not been the first choice, not for many of the current patron judging by their looks following their interaction with the ultra-hipster barista, but the first choice had been bombed.

Zane didn't mind the decor, he'd been in worse places and after his day the cup of kaff was heaven. He took it black, and sipped at it slowly as his eyes settled on the attractive young woman across from him.

"So, I suspect you will be wanting to know more about what happened last night?" He asked calmly as he placed his cup back on the table. "Looking for anything specific?"

''Knowing what the heck happened would be a nice start I admit'' she replied somewhat tired

''What did that Durasay do?''

[Zanebry Varliss]

"He sold us out." He offered after a few moments. "He said he did so himself, but there is no way a man of his means did so alone." He sighed softly.

"Tried to get more out of his crewmate Craw Toboga but even he tried to hide it. Cyan Nexu told me a bit though, that Craw and those Mando's had mutual friends in the Empire."

"Which points me towards those names I mentioned yesterday. Those were a few I knew had a interest in this."

Baes held her cup to her lips then put it down without drinking it. She was'nt ready for it quite yet.

"...it would make sense..." Her eyes started to get a light shade of red "The Sith would have no scrupules in using the plague as a weapon...they would likely see it as an heritage"

"Knowing what I do now. They most certainly would, they would take the aspect of choice out of the hands of every force user." He closed his eyes for a moment his tone turning darker. "Join us, or truly become a monster."

"Some freedom" she frowned. She had supposed they would use it on non-humans and slaves but captured Jedi or Light Side users also suffer.

But what hurted the most were the names. She knew for a fact that at least one of them was aware of the situation.

There was now a hole in her chest.

"Any clues as to where our SIS insider was?"

"I have a few ideas, none of them concrete, and chances are it could of been nearly anyone from the republic." He frowned. "The droid HX makes the most sense though."

"More sense then you or Captain Organa at least. Could be the latter contributed to things and remained completely unawares though."

None if them made sense though, she shook her head.

"No...the high ranking SIS who tried to block us. I don't think either would willingly do that"

[Zanebry Varliss]

"Oh... Claire." He frowned softly. "From what Osmodar said, they were both there to investigate on their own, and I trust that man enough to believe him. He's a old friend."

"She likely tried to block us because she saw me there. As you figured we're old acquaintances, from back before we left."

He picked up his cup and took a sip. "If you're asking if it was me though, it wasn't. It was always my intention to keep SIS out of this, and if I had let things leak, there would of been more then a squad there."

''How about your old boss?'' she inquired

''He was on Nar Shaada, was he not?''

"I don't think he was behind Claire." He offered after a few moments. "The approach was wrong to be from him. It'd be more the shoot first approach if it was him."

She looked pensive

''Well...at least nobody will get the weapon now.'' She let out a sigh

''I hope those kids will be able to get back at a normal life''

[Zanebry Varliss]

"I wish there was more I could tell you on that front, but I simply don't know." He replied with a sigh. "I'll look into it though, before I leave."

"Yes, and that was my aim after all. It will of course take time to destroy all the other facilities, but I'm sure it can be done by your order."

"Me as well..." He grimaced. "I regret that I can't do more for them."

She picked up her cup and drank the dark infusion

''The order will take care of them...all of them. Even if we can't return them to their normal state we can at least give them a life other then that of living weapons.''

She rubbed her neck pondering

''This Red Wraith...what do you know of it?''

[Zanebry Varliss]

"I know and I'm glad. I still wish I could of put a stop to this earlier, for the sake of those in a worse condition. " He sighed before taking another sip from his cup.

"Not much, other then I saw her investigating the death of Aris, and met her once at a casino. She said it herself, she's ones who decieves. She well knows lies."

"I thought that she might be the sith known as Moyr Ahaya as well. I've heard their natures are similar, and Moyr seems to never make appearences, though I know she is here."

He offered Baesal a lopsided smile. "I was fishing a bit when I brought her name up. You seemed to have attended the academy of Korriban in the same year after all."

''I know many Sith, Mister Z'' she said looking down at her cup

''Many of them wishes for my head''

[Zanebry Varliss]

"I saw as much at that blood bath of a wedding Miss Zyn. Right before everything went bad."

He leaned back in his seat a soft sigh escaping his lips. "Though now you have me curious as to why you asked about that one in particular. You don't have to tell me of course, but I feel I've been rather open with you."

There was a small pause. "If it helps, I'm asking because I need information in order to help my friend."

''It just happens that I knew that one personnaly and I am weary everytime I see that mask'' she says in whisper

[Zanebry Varliss]

"No idea who might be behind it then?" It was as much as a question as a statement as he watched her carefully. Letting out a soft sigh a moment later. "There is no need to answer that, I've pried enough already."

[Baesal Zyn]

''I'm not sure'' she answered honestly.

[Zanebry Varliss]

"I'll look into them then, see what I can find out... People don't go around hiding their identity like that for no reason after all." He picked up his cup and took a slow sip. "Could be she takes it off sometimes, to go out into the world unnoticed. That's just one option of many though." His gut was telling him a story, but without any confirmation, there was little he could do about it.
