Anywhere but there (Day 10 EN Expecting)

[Arsele Girard]

"To me, or in general?"

It had to be asked... and Arsele kind of wondered anyways.

[Zanebry Varliss]

He paused a moment a small smile on his lips. "To you." He offered at last.

He glanced down at his hands before looking up at her. "Though I freely admit it was a lie, me not knowing what to say. I know what I need to say, I was just too scared to speak it."

[Arsele Girard]

Arsele put her chin in her hand, elbow on the bar as she looked at Z, "That sounds more right; Not that I pretend to know everything either."

[Zanebry Varliss]

He took a slow sip of his drink, before setting it on the bad once again, and seeking out her big blue eyes with his grey ones. "Where do we go from here Arsele? Me leaving, you staying? Will tonight or tomorrow be the end of all this? Or do you think there is another path we could take?"

[Arsele Girard]

"Mmm..."

Arsele gave a small nod, downing some of her drink afterwards, "Good question; And blood if I know. I barely know what I'm doing next beyond quite possibly moving off world."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"You're leaving as well?" He asked with a raised eyebrow, it shouldn't really be surprising considering all that had happened. "I guess that's one more reason to never come back to Nar Shaddaa."

"Seems like everyone I've really come to like on this Moon will be gone soon."

[Arsele Girard]

"Oui, that it does. Not to mention all the stuff that's happened.... Hmph; Maybe it is time for me to grow up anyways."

She took another long swig from her glass.

[Zanebry Varliss]

"Grow up?" He asked raising a eyebrow. "Are you talking about giving up all your wild and willful ways? Perhaps even settling down?" It seemed odd, from everything he knew about Arsele, but eventually all of them had to change at least a little.

His own glass nearly empty, he ordered another, giving Arsele a look to ask if she wanted one as well.

She nodded, both at his question and the look at her empty glass, "I mean, I want to eventually, sure. I mean, just because I want to do things on my own terms doesn't mean that kind of thing can't be part of it. You know; Some place clean and safe and beautiful where I can live and maybe have some kids... Something I've earned, a rest after a lot of hardships and hard nights."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"That sounds nice." Z replied trailing off. "Honestly, I've never considered it as a option for myself, but maybe one day in the future." He smirked. "I think I have a lot of things to do before then though. Things to learn about myself. Some growing up to do or my own, as well as some time to heal perhaps?"

[Arsele Girard]

"You would know more about that sort of thing than me; I couldn't even pretend to understand everything you've been through, after all."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"I could tell you more sometime, if you like..." Zane lifted his glass to his lips taking a sip. "Long story short though, before I retired I did a lot of bad things for several years, and before that I was a solider, you can imagine what that entails in a war time."

"I've lost friends, and more then a few of them, and did things I'm not proud of. My path to redemption will be a long one, if I can keep walking on it."

[Arsele Girard]

She shakes her head slightly, "I know the rough details Z, but even if I knew more it's not something I've experienced myself. I could only approach it from my own perspective."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"I suppose you are right, and to a degree that's the same for most people I meet." He looked at her and offered a smile. "That's alright though, understanding doesn't seem to be something I need as much as a few other things."

He smirked. "This topic has become somewhat heavy, don't you think."

[Arsele Girard]

"Yeah, well... it feels like it's just that sort of day, with everything happening, hm? Why else would I be drinking so much?"

This was accompanied by Arsele picking up her new martini and sipping it.

[Zanebry Varliss]

"I was wondering about that. You're out drinking me after all, and that's no easy feat. Not aiming to get so giggly drunk I have to carry you up to my room are you?" The last part was said teasingly as he offered her a soft smile.

[Arsele Girard]

She looked over her glass at him somberly, "...you've never seen me drunk I suppose."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"No, you don't often drink that much when I'm around." He watched her for a moment carefully. "I suppose there is a first thing for everything though, I'll be here drinking with you until you've had enough."

[Arsele Girard]

"And paying?" she asked with raised eyebrows.

[Zanebry Varliss]

"Always beautiful." He replied with a dazzling smile. "Tonight is on me."

[Arsele Girard]

"Mmmm."

She gave a nod and downed the sour drink, letting out a long sigh afterwards, "Perhaps... I should have some propriety though; Force knows you haven't put up with enough, let alone on my account."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"I enjoy your company Arsele, you don't need to mind me" He offered her a smile and downed his own glass of whiskey. "If nothing else a good night of drinking might help both of us get some sleep."

[Arsele Girard]

"Sure, sure..."

There was already a slight pink flush to Arsele's ears as she ordered a third glass.

[Zanebry Varliss]

He couldn't help but chuckle at that,leaning against the bar and watching her, a content smile on his lips. He changed his own drink to a gin martini, waiting for it to arrive alongside hers before speaking. "Perhaps we should make a toast?" He offered as he picked up his drink.

[Arsele Girard]

This was a bit later, after a few more drinks on Arsele's part as he watched. At this point her cheeks were a little flushed as well, and she'd loosened the collar on her shirt.

As he proposed a toast, she looked up with a frown, "What's there to toast? There's there's... so much bad going on. And I lost my plummy Arali~~"

As she looked up at Z, Arsele sniffled; If he did not know it yet, he would soon find out Arsele made for a one depressed drunk.
