His expression grew sympathetic as she spoke. "Goodness, Aly. To not even tell you what was happening..." His lips pressed into a thin line. For a moment, it looked as though he was about to speak, but then he shook his head. No sense in badmouthing her Order.
Niall sighed. "I gather it was... not quite so sudden for me. And I didn't have my life uprooted, and I had Arsele." He smiled at her again, more openly than before. "Well, you're here now. Jedi can have old friends, right?"
"On my end... well, it seemed like a dream. You were my best friend, why wouldn't we be married?" She smirked at the thought, though the good mood was soon overtaken by melancholy.
She shrugged, for the millionth time, the event going over in her mind. "It seemed like a good idea t the time. Sudden, but good. I thought I could do more good if become a Jedi. Help my family. Lead it one day." She looked down, avoiding his gaze. "Didn't exactly work out."
Yet.She looked back up, smiling. "Don't you worry... we're going to be friends. Nothing can stand against that."
