Fancy Drinks for Fancy People (D1, ME)

[Javagus Khan]

Drinks had always seemed like an evening sort of arrangement to Javagus. As soon as he was docked, he sent a message to Malam Gil, letting him know that he was free to take the man up on his offer of drinks whenever he had the time. That had, in turn, brought Javagus to a much fancier restaurant than he had anticipated.

Once again, he waited near the door to see whether he would be the one getting the table or if Malam had beaten him to it (or if this was going to be a strictly 'two strangers talking in a bar' sort of arrangement).

Either way, he was looking forward to a few drinks.

The door man, well twi'lek woman in a fine dress says, "Mister Khan your party is waiting upstairs."

He offers the woman a polite smile and a thankful incline of his head before making his way to the stairs and up to the second floor.

Upstairs waiting in a beautiful bar area is the man of the hours. He smiles as he leans against the bar, overhead is an aquarium like bubble suspended by repulsor fields, the aquatic creatures swimming as in midair high above the two.

Malam says, “I am glad you could make it, I hope you had no trouble finding the place.”

His Imperial accent is clean and impeccable.

Javagus casually makes his way over to his contact and inclines his head in greeting. "No problem t'all. Real nice place, this one. Haven't had much of an opportunity to tinker 'round in Hutt space, but it seems like they do a good enough job of decoratin', if nothing else."

As if to emphasize his point, he glances up at the... fish? swimming above them before looking back to Malam. "Like one of those places you'd see on the holovids. Very posh." There's a serious nod of approval in there somewhere.

“It’s a bit ostentatious but the spirits are authentic and they have a peculiar dish where they serve the fish raw, it is tastier than it sounds I assure you. Not all of Hutt space is as well appointed as Nar Shaddaa, if you doubt my words just go planetside to Nal Hutta.”

Malam adds, “Where have you traveled, surely you must get around for business?”

"I'll take your word for it," he chuckles. "Far as where I've been? Spent some time on Anaxes and Allyuen, and then a scattering of planets all along the eastern rim. Was on Tatooine not too long ago, and Geonosis 'fore that. Sort of nice to get away from all the sand 'fore a bit."

“You have been to some rugged places, bout time you had a chance to enjoy more civilized parts of the galaxy… though I use the term loosely.”

He pours a brownish liquor for the both of them and says, “The Hutts try their best, and I admire the effort, I find Ziost more to my tastes but I like what they have achieved here. I have to ask before we get down to the business, are you adverse with working with Mandalorians?”

"So long as they're willin' to do business without shovin' a blaster in my face, I'm perfectly happy to sit down at the table with 'em. So to speak." He takes the drink into hand and glances around the room in a casual manner. "Outer Rim is a bit rugged as a rule. Always feel like places like this are the 'ception, rather than the rule out here."

"Good, I have a buyer who is interested in a supplier of chemical weapons," he says taking another sip.

"I also have a proposal for you, it's not... illegal, just a gray area that we can exploit. Just being up front."

[Javagus Khan]

"That so?" Javagus takes a slow sip of his drink. "This a proposal with the buyer, or somethin' else on the side?"

[Dapper Dog]

“Yes, there’s a buyer though you may have to do a little convincing. I believe I your abilities as a salesman though so I am sure that will take care of itself. The issue is this; the Imperial authorities have recently… tightened restrictions in regards to weapon sales outside of the military. Now I have a warehouse of goods that I can’t legally sell. If you and your company are willing to take these surplus weapons off of my hands at cost, then I have a very interested buyer who would take them.”

Malam says, “My hands are clean as your company is not on the embargoed list, you and yours make a money, I get my piece of the action and you get a healthy bonus I am sure for brokering a multi-million credit deal.”

“As long as you can convince the Mandalorians, which is perhaps the more difficult task,” he finishes.

Javagus takes a few moments to sip at this drink and think the offer over. "Suppose if I put in an order for you at a highly inflated price, then you could pay the exorbitant bill with whatever weapons cargo you had sittin' 'round in your warehouse. They wouldn't be for sale, of course, just storin' 'em on my ship until I make the trip back to the home office, nothing illegal 'bout that."

He takes another sip, finishes the drink, and then inclines his head as if something just occurred to him. "'Course, if I'm meeting with another client, showin' 'em the goods, and they notice the weapons and taken an interest..." A shrug. "I'm authorized to sell company assets to prospective buyers. Isn't anything that says it has to be chemicals. Once the deal's gone through, maybe I look back at our deal, realize I made a few mistakes in calculating up the final price, and issue a credit refund, on account of the weapons already bein' out of my hands. Minus handlin' and transaction fees, of course."

“I am glad you are a student of creative accounting, I think we have an understanding then,” he says warmly.

Javagus nods as he finishes off his drink. "These Mandalorians, they the same buyer for the chemical weapons? Just want to make sure all our womp rats are in a row."

“They would be yes, led by a man named Corso Fett, sees himself as some kind of leader. All I really care about is the assets he has and the need we can fulfill. He is a warrior and soldier, he will probably have a very practical approach but I doubt I need to explain that to you,” Malam says honestly.

[Javagus Khan]

"Seems reasonable enough." He nods his head as he thinks the situation through a bit. "I'll need some data on this Corso fellow, his location... maybe send him a message that I'm comin', if you're on good terms with him. Always easier to do business with someone if they think they're gettin' an inside deal, rather than someone just droppin' out of space and knockin' on their door."

Glancing over, he takes a few beer nuts from the counter and pops them into his mouth, chewing them slowly. "What's your timetable here?

“Sadly it is a faster time table than I would like, I have a limited window for the goods before someone notices that they have been removed. I am on moderate terms with Corso, we have done business in the past just the regulations have tied my hands, but I can put in a good word which should allay any doubt on his end,” Malam says.

“I know he frequents the Yellow Viper Cantina, the only sticking point may be his right hand woman, Shae Vizla. She’s a hard one, always suspicious and a Mandalorian. Winning her over would make things easier for you. We have ten days at best to close this out.”

“I can forward a more complete assessment of Corso later tonight.”

"Works for me. I'll look over things once you send 'em through, and you can move your goods to my ship tomorrow afternoon. I'll have a contract waiting for you to sign, and then I can get right to work with Corso."

[Dapper Dog]

He takes a final sip and says, "I like the sound of money."

"Feel free to have a meal on me." Malam puts the glass down and makes his exit unless stopped.

"Much appreciated," he says to the departing man.

Javagus was more than happy to find a comfortable seat and enjoy a free meal, especially at such a fancy restaurant.
