"You'd better be. If I have to walk all the way back on foot I'll be very pissed." She gave him a wink and a pat on the arm, then hopped off the speeder and moved toward the shanty town in a non-threatening way, just adjusting her gear for minimum environmental discomfort.

One of the villagers, an evocii, nods to her but none stop her.

[Moyr Ahaya]

"Choowahai." Moyr started with the only word she knew in Evocii, then switched to Basic, avoiding Huttese. "I am Diana Syndulla, an explorer of the ancient times. I am interested in the past of Evocar. Would your elders be the right people to speak about this to?"

[Dapper Dog]

She frowns and then says, "We don't have much stranger, if that is what you are looking for."

[Moyr Ahaya]

"I don't come for your possessions, but the knowledge of your people. Would you help me?" Diana spoke like one oppressed xeno to another. Her choice of Basic could speak of her distaste of Huttese.

“Alright and she heads into a hut with an older woman sitting in a chair. The old evocii looks up and says, “Oh dearie, do we have guests?”

“Nana, this visitor wanted to speak to you of the old ways.”

The evocii crone says, “Why are you interested in that?”

[Moyr Ahaya]

"Because everything Evocar had been before is more interesting for me than the way it is now. I am seeking the traces of the old days. Plants, animals, artifacts, architecture. What has persevered despite devastation." She paused. "I have suspicions that important things have been forgotten about this planet, of its importance for how the Force operates in the universe."

[Dapper Dog]

“I wouldn’t know anything like that but when I was young deep in the Black Mire there were talks of the Black Witches, keepers of the old traditions,” she says before coughing.

“Just legends though, sure the Hutts would never stand for them. Good stories though said to protect the pristine places of Nal Hutta… before it was such. Ain't heard of them in decades.”

[Moyr Ahaya]

"Legends often carry a grain of truth. I could not care less for what pompous slugs think about it, I have my own mind. My planet, Ryloth, is under their yoke too." Moyr didn't have to pretend her hatred of the Hutts, just let the valve loose a little. "Black Witches, Black Mire... would you tell me more of what you remember?"

[Dapper Dog]

She tries to think, “They were protectors and guarded the ancient places, they could speak to the trees and the creatures of the land. Not many had their gifts, but those that did and had the right spirit could become Black Witches.”

“Champions.”

The old woman coughs and says, “Those were the old tales.”

[Moyr Ahaya]

Diana nodded intently. "Was there a place most sacred to them, the place they trained and conducted their protective rituals?"

[Dapper Dog]

“The Black Tree, a hidden place,” she says before her coughing fit causes the other evocii to come to her aid.

[Moyr Ahaya]

Diana offered a stimpak. "This might help."

[Dapper Dog]

The evocii are suspicious of the stranger and one says, "She needs her rest."

"I thank you for your kindness, but we cannot accept. Please leave us stranger."

[Moyr Ahaya]

Moyr nodded, but as she rose, she reached out to the mind of the old woman with the Force to learn her thoughts about the Black Tree.

EA1. Sense: Mind-Reading the old Evocii.: 1eF 1 Dark Side

[Dapper Dog]

Her surface thoughts are of pain and the insidious nature of the dark side does little to ease that as she shakes in her seat and then expires.

The last thought was of the village where she was born and her parents.

[Moyr Ahaya]

The Twi'lek bowed her head and left to avoid altercation. She meant to move out of the village.

Vain is waiting in the speeder listening to cantina music.

[Moyr Ahaya]

"Eh, that was a waste of time. An old crone was mumbling something about Dark Hags or something." Diana scoffed. "Any better ideas where to look, mister investigator?"

[Dapper Dog]

"Are you hiring me?" he asks.

[Moyr Ahaya]

"If I paid for results, not some daily rate nonsense, I might consider it."

[Dapper Dog]

"I can deal with that, what are we looking for and I will give it a shot, 500 credits," he offers.

[Moyr Ahaya]

"I'm interested in ancient places on this planet, with coordinates. These Evocii seem to have some crazy tales about it which involve lots of dark colours, so let's go with that. Maybe the plants I look for are black or something. Is it not outside your expertise, to get deeper into the folklore?"

[Dapper Dog]

He heads back to Jiguuna, "That sounds like a yes, I will reach out to you when I have something to offer."

Once they got back and parted, the Twi'lek found a discreet spot to make a call on coded channels. He selected Rumun, Baes and Hala and waited who would answer first.
