[Day 1 - ME] Why Can't We be Friends? - Event

[Shaisha Vreysk]

He shrugs again and slouches against the table, if I was actually here to represent anything, perhaps, but I know all I'm good for.

"Sure, at your pleasure. Tell me where and when, it's unlikely I'll be doing anything."

"Hm, very well," she nodded and picked up the small datapad from the belt where her lightsaber hung over her hip. "I will contact you when I can find a spare moment, petty officer Ormont."

"How I wish I could have seemingly as much freetime as you seem to, but alas, the life of a Sith is never dull."

[Cole Ormont]

"There's a world where they have a curse: may you live in interesting times."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"Hardly a curse," she laughed dryly. "Living in uninteresting times sounds like a worse fate."

"Would you prefer to live in uninteresting times?"

[Cole Ormont]

Take a long drink, "judging by my schedule, I already do. Would I trade it for your hectic one? Perhaps, depending on what I was filling my days with."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"A lot of it is confidential, officer," she smiled coyly. "But you don't seem the type who'd take easily to recon-work, infiltration, fighting or killing. Though truth be told, you'd be surprised at how much of my time is spent in social events like these."

"At least this one is an improvement from the last one as I didn't have to break anything to enter, or kill security."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"So not a true sister by blood but functionally." She nods in understanding, "I must confess such pleasant familial relations are not the first thing that comes to mind when speaking to Sith...." Yslane, "...I assume its pleasant? At least it seemed pleasant enough as I was approaching."

"So then how did your family attain their position? If I may ask."

He nods, "Quite pleasant. Shaisha and I were best of friends growing up. We each provide our own strengths to the relationship, it's something that continues now even though our masters do not see eye to eye."

He folded his arms slightly as he saw Kristal enter the party, "And as for my family, it is a long and most likely boring story to anyone outside the Empire, I'm sure.... but House Torsin has been a part of the Empire ever since we relocated to our current capital. We helped build the Empire into what it has become, most directly in the recent past... My father was the top military official in the Empire for most of the past 15 years."

"I see," Yslane smiled at that, probably filing it away as unexpected....given most of her information was propaganda films. "My own family has served the Republic...well since its first days. Not nobility mind you, but never far from governmental service. My father is a senior official in the Chancellor's Office actually." ...it was probably pointless to boast on her family, they likely had some ImpIntel man already compiling dossiers on every Republic member.

Her eyes move to the newly arrived Sith, she was not so naive to not notice the small shift of the masked man, "Another sibling of yours?"

[Cole Ormont]

Unsure if he was supposed to be impressed or shocked, Cole's expression gave away neither. "I'm not sure which sounds worse to me, swanning about these social gatherings every night, or the fighting and killing." I can think of better ways to spend my days than decanting soldiers from Bacta tanks, too, but that would be telling.

"You certainly do like to keep busy."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"Life has taught me to work hard and party harder," she smirked and placed the datapad away again. "Nothing is achieved by wallowing in mediocrity, or allowing yourself to be chained down to less than you can be."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He shook his head, "No, another friend though. Her name is Kristal Serasai, an apprentice of Darth Marr."

[Cole Ormont]

He allows a cock of an eyebrow, "if you happen by a young Togruta named Ashla, take the time to make her acquaintance. I think you two might find some common ground." Shaisha's comment has successfully needled at his pride, where it sleeps behind several protective walls, and he pushes his fingers through his curls, eyes narrowing a little.

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"This Togruta," she made a gesture for him to continue. "What is it about her that makes you mention her?"

[Cole Ormont]

"She's scrappy and agile of wit. I can't make up my mind if the two of you would kill each other or become the firmest of friends. Though, knowing Ashla, probably the former." He spins his cup between his hands and his hands are agile and steady, even if nothing else about him is.

[Shaisha Vreysk]

"Is that so?" she quirked an eyebrow with some curiousity in her eyes.

"Firmest of friends might be a stretch, but I am not against meeting likeminded individuals from the Republic, having already assisted some of your fellow compatriots earlier today with squaring off some unfinished business."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"A lot of Apprentices from absent Masters," Yslane stifled a laugh, "Are there any who actually serve Darth Xevious here?" Her eyes fall on the cadre around him, "...besides those. Err....better question, it seems a lot of representatives from the other important Sith are present...which probably makes sense given the nature of these talks....but why only Apprentices and why so many when the lead Sith here has relatively few."

There is a moment of hesitation when Yslane realizes she is rambling, "...this line of questioning probably reaches too far. Perhaps it better to just ask if you would share your thoughts on these talks?"

[Cole Ormont]

Ashla would just as like make friends because I said it was unlikely, Cole snorts, amused. "Don't worry, she's well versed in quid-pro-quo and would never agree to a future promise that wasn't in her favour."

[Sylvain Torsin]

"A lot of Apprentices from absent Masters," Yslane stifled a laugh, "Are there any who actually serve Darth Xevious here?" Her eyes fall on the cadre around him, "...besides those. Err....better question, it seems a lot of representatives from the other important Sith are present...which probably makes sense given the nature of these talks....but why only Apprentices and why so many when the lead Sith here has relatively few."

"I don't see the Chancellor of the Republic here... I suppose for similar reasons." He paused before answering her question.

"My thoughts? I am in favor of an agreement. I believe there has been sufficient suffering for now. We have made our presence known to the galaxy, and what we offer... Now is a time for both of our respective sides to make our arguments to the citizens of the galaxy and win them by means other than military might."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"I don't see the Chancellor of the Republic here... I suppose for similar reasons." He paused before answering her question.

"My thoughts? I am in favor of an agreement. I believe there has been sufficient suffering for now. We have made our presence known to the galaxy, and what we offer... Now is a time for both of our respective sides to make our arguments to the citizens of the galaxy and win them by means other than military might."

"I do not believe many in the Republic would believe I heard such words from a representative of the Sith," Yslane smiles apologetically, "But the Empire has...something of an image problem on the Core Worlds. Perhaps this summit will change that?"

"I...agree with what you said, though forgive me if I feel the Republic will ultimately prevail in the court of public opinion. I have a bias."

[Shaisha Vreysk]

Ashla would just as like make friends because I said it was unlikely, Cole snorts, amused. "Don't worry, she's well versed in quid-pro-quo and would never agree to a future promise that wasn't in her favour."

"Why, you make her sound like a reasonable person," she said with a hint of sarcasm in her tone. "How did you come to meet such a lady?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled, "I wouldn't expect any less. One should have faith in that to which they have devoted themselves. You seem to be a genuine believer in your system of diversity and democracy. And I am not foolish enough to think that your system is without merit. For thousands of years your Republic has ruled the galaxy; it has done much good... but also much evil. I merely believe that what we offer will bring greater good to a greater number of people. Our methods are not perfect yet, and with increased size we will continue to adapt. But the principles of our government and the strength of our people will lead us into our future. Ultimately that may lead to war with the republic again in the near future, but for now... I am in favor of alternative means of persuasion."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"Is that the feeling of your Master as well?" She studies the mask, "Or the feelings of your fellows? I'd imagine this peace initiative isn't universally popular. I think I would prefer to hear many share your opinion."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded, "It is my master's opinion... and from what I can tell Xevious is at least willing to entertain such discussions... or else he wouldn't be here."

[Yslane Tssilla]

"It would be a bit counter productive to lead talks if you don't want them to succeed." She concedes, "And in that vein...how have you found my people? Apart from the incident earlier, I mean. I'd like to think most are interested in at least not harming the peace efforts with accusations and old wounds."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He chuckled warmly again in a regal fashion, "It has been quite the first impression. If I am to believe the reports, my ship was attacked by Republic operatives as soon as we landed. And then I was nearly accosted by the gentleman we met in the street, and finally I was greeted with the peculiar site of a Republic Senator kneeling to a Dark Lord of the Sith... If it were not for you I think I might seriously doubt anyone here was genuinely considering peace."

[Yslane Tssilla]

Yslane's eyes widen, "An attack? Was anyone hurt? I mean clearly you survived....but anyone else caught in the attack?" She reflexively pulls out her datapad and thumbs through the schedule...before realizing how silly the idea SIS would post a note {0600 - Assassinate Sith, 0755 - Breakfast Meet and Greet}. Putting the datapad back she looks up, "...is there any evidence of this? I don't think it would be sanctioned by my government. I'm sure the Foreign Office would be willing to examine anything you have and forward it to the Justice Office to bring any potential rogue elements to light. I can assure you, on behalf of the Foreign Office, that we are sincere in our hopes that peace can be achieved with these talks." Her own bureaucratic nature left the later part sounding like what it is...boiler plate claptrap spooned out to all the aides for the likely even violence breaks out.

Her concern returns shortly there after, "Was anyone hurt?" That was at least sincere.

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded, "A couple of my associates who were also on the ship. I detected the explosives at the last moment and was able to escape to safety, but others incurred injury. I believe Xevious may be talking to your leader about it at this event. It certainly was an interesting greeting card from the Republic. Though seeing that my father was killed by Republic operatives less than a year ago... I suppose I cannot expect anything less."
