A Days Pay pt 2 (Day 1 Le Open, Solmillo's)

[Zanebry Varliss]

It was getting closer to the end of his shift and the Gambler had once again stepped away from his table. He'd made a bit more in tips then he had been hoping, but then it seemed some of the patrons were happy to have him back. that he dealt so they would win probably helped matters a little as well.

[Nekoinu]

"It's always nice to see you working the tables."

The twi'lek toyed with the end of one of her lekkus. "Zanebry, tell me, how have you been? Still drowning in other women?" she asked with a bit of a pout.

[Zanebry Varliss]

"Naveera." He greeted the beautiful Twi'lek woman with a playful smile. "So good to see you again. Could I buy you a drink?"

"You know me my dear, I may have women all around, but it's only the truly breathtaking ones that can keep my attention. Women like you for example."

He moved a bit closer a the playful smile. "I've been well though, what about you? Not leaving too many broken hearts in your wake I hope?"

[Nekoinu]

"A drink sounds so lovely, Zanebry, just like you. As for broken hearts on my end, well, only if they're foolish enough to let it happen." She took a seat at the table and held out a few credit chips. "Would you still want to play a game?"

[Zanebry Varliss]

He waved over a waiter, placing a order for her usual, assuming it hadn't changed, as well as his own work drink. "Last time I checked there were a lot of fools out there Naveera." He said with a soft chuckle.

"I wouldn't mind a game,." He said taking the deck into his hands. "Normal shakes? Or?"

[Nekoinu]

"You're right, lots of fools. You wouldn't believe what my boss demands of me. Such long hours, not enough time for me to fully admire you."

Naveera nodded and waited for her deal. "Who's luckier: the lady or the gentleman?"

Wager is up to you. It's gambling rules at Hard difficulty, but her pool is automatically upgraded twice.

[Zanebry Varliss]

"Luck is a lady, so I tend to believe you have the advantage as far as that goes." He placed some of his own credits on the table, and began to deal.

He played a good game, but she likely noticed something.

When she saw his winning hand, she simply smiled and nodded. "Excellent game, Zanebry. But I thought you'd be kinder than to cheat in a game against poor me." She held up her hands and pretended to draw from the bottom of the deck as a demonstration.

[Zanebry Varliss]

"Old habits." He replied with a easy smile as he pushed his credits towards her side of the table.

"I'm happy to see you're still on the top of your game though. All those long hours, I worry that they might start to wear away at you."

[Nekoinu]

"I need to keep my eye open," she said nonchalantly. While collecting her cash, she dropped one of her original antes onto the ground. "I suppose a gentleman on Nar Shaddaa still cheats," she mused, "It wouldn't go as well on Alderaan though."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"True enough, I haven't had any business on that end of the galaxy in years though. I suppose that's why I've lost my edge a little."

"You deal with a different kind of people out here, they don't really respect playing fair." He reached down to pick up her ante, palming it and replacing it with one from his own pocket as he pretended to switch to his other hand.. "You dropped this."

"Either way I admit to treating you poorly, perhaps there is a way I can make it up to you?"

[Nekoinu]

"You were already so kind to point out a lost chip." She plucked the one offered to her out of his hands and placed it with the rest of her money. "And you also got me a drink. Maybe you can fascinate me with one of your stories. I always liked to hear about a rough private eye."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"A story?" He leaned back in his chair. "I can manage that. Though here I was hoping that you would let me take you out for a drink, I get off the clock here shortly."

He was near certain she wouldn't accept, but it didn't hurt to try. After the day he had he could do with something fun and casual. "Story wise what we're you wanting to hear though? Something recent or a bit of a older tale?"

[Nekoinu]

"Where did you have in mind? I might be able to move around my schedule."

Naveera batted her eyelashes. "You've told me the old ones before. I want to hear the recent ones."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"There's always my place." He replied with a easy smile. "If not that though, I know a few places with good cocktails."

"The recent ones..." He paused thoughtfully. "Well the latest one is a gentleman wanting me to look into his lover. He thinks she may be cheating on him."

[Nekoinu]

"If I went to your place then I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to leave," she said with a pout. "I don't think my boss would appreciate that." The twi'lek played with her drink's straw as she nodded along. "Well, don't stop there. Tell me more."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"You might be right about that." He offered with a predatory smile. "It's too bad your boss is such a hard ass, perhaps you have a better option of where to go?"

"Well I can't say too much, mostly due to the fact I've only just started. It seems, she's been missing dates though, small things like lunch or drinks, and leaving her comm behind so he can't get a hold of her."

"Mind you, she is an attractive woman, so i understand why she might stray, but even then her movements have been a bit unusual."

[Nekoinu]

Naveera shook her head. "I like the job well enough. It's just that I can't stand the boss."

She took a sip from her drink and watched him with intent. "Is she prettier than I am? Or is she just more of your type?"

[Zanebry Varliss]

"That I can understand." He said with a small sigh. "I take it that means we will have to meet for drinks another night then."

He smiled under her scrutiny casually bringing his own drink to his lips for a sip. "You're much more beautiful my dear, I suppose you could say that she is my type though."

[Nekoinu]

"Assuredly. I'm getting more business with the peace talks going anyways."

The twi'lek lady put on another pout. "Is she now? Lemme guess then: blonde? Don't go falling in love with her then. I'm sure you've since those movies where the investigator falls in love with the girl."

[Zanebry Varliss]

"Well, tell me if you need any help, I'm sure something can be arranged, on the down low of course."

"Worrying about me Naveera? That's sweet of you." He gave her a warm smile. "I'll be careful, but I don't fall for them as easily as when I was younger. I remember the lessons you taught me about that."

[Nekoinu]

"Oh I wouldn't want to bother you with my stuff. I imagine you have a lot to do, Zanebry."

Naveera let out a chuckle. "It's good to know you won't get too wrapped up in it. But alright, disloyal wife. Any other stories to tell?"

[Zanebry Varliss]

"Nothing to unusual, a bit of a scuffle in the shadows today, people seem somewhat upset. Perhaps due to the lavish treatment of the arriving delegates."

"Other then that, the recent disappearances, a colleague of mine was thinking about looking into those." He frowned softly. "I'm not sure the danger will be worth the pay though."

[Nekoinu]

"Wow. Riots, kidnappings. It all sounds quite scary." She took a sip. "People go missing all the time though. What made the Hutts finally pay attention?"

[Zanebry Varliss]

He took another sip of his whiskey and water. "You're certainly full of questions tonight? Do I get a present for answering all of them?" He teased, placing his whiskey on the table he leaned closer his voice dropping to a whisper.

"It's the fact that none of the missing are reappearing, as slaves or otherwise. The whispers I hear speak of cannibalism."
