As word got around, and more people began approaching him for help, the more... confused? frustrated? Cole was becoming. More often than not, these people needed real hospitals. If Jedi Cortess was a soldier, I could have ordered her back to the frigate for a week of dedicated care.

Thus, it was unsurprising that Layne had contacted him that morning. Unable to simply have the Sith come by his quarters, he'd come down to the Red Light District, a sort of 'neutral territory' for the Empire and Republic. He'd located something akin to a drop-in Clinic this morning, and forwarded the coordinates on to the young woman before preparing to set up shop for the morning.

She arrived in the middle of the morning, wondering why she couldn't just show up at the other clinic. Apparently doctor Cole wasn't the sort to be tied down like that.

"I'm looking for..."

She didn't need to be pointed the way once she'd entered the place. It was hard to miss that hair.

Seemingly anticipating her confusion, "sorry for change of scenery. Trouble with the Hutts. C'mon through," this particular facility had actual consulting rooms, and he led Layne to one of them now.

[Layne Hoshin]

"Right," she said, and followed in silence.

Hutt trouble. It's always Hutt trouble.

[Cole Ormont]

Though Cole was usually skilled at his art, today his mind was elsewhere, and it showed in his lacklustre work.

It was unfortunate, but Layne was no doctor so probably couldn't tell that the doctor wasn't doctoring properly. Especially since her less permanent injuries were being taken care of.

"Thanks," she said, "I feel better already."

Cole ran a hand through his hair and rubbed the back of his neck. He looked tired, "normally I'd order bed rest, but I have no authority over you, so the best I can do is hope you'll try and take it easy for the rest of the day."

[Layne Hoshin]

"No chance of that doc," she said, once more checking her muscles to see if everything was on the up and up.

"Say, how do you know Jo'ren anyway?"

[Cole Ormont]

"We play Huttball together. He's really something on the court; I'm surprised there's anyone on Nar Shaddaa stupid enough to get close enough to him to try injure him."

[Layne Hoshin]

She looked at Cole skeptically; he certainly didn't fit the 'huttball player' image in her mind. Though really, no doctor should.

"Jo'ren is a skilled combatant," she said, drawing attention away from her skeptical aura.

[Cole Ormont]

He noticed her skepticism, "yeah, I didn't think I was the type either." He ran a hand through his hair, "actually, it was Jo'ren who got me into it," and Cole smiled, remembering the big Sith calling him down from the stands. Cole hadn't put up much of a fight.

"He makes friends far too quickly for a sith," she said in a way that could be interpreted as a warning.

[Cole Ormont]

Cole considered this, "and you? what would it take for you to trust someone?"

[Layne Hoshin]

"They'd have to die," she answered casually. "Only a corpse can truly be trusted."

[Cole Ormont]

"That's very final. Is there a," Cole gestured awkwardly, "middle ground, y'know, before trust, but trustworthy?"

[Layne Hoshin]

"If they were trustworthy then there'd be trust," she said. "But I suppose some people aren't constantly looking to screw me over."

[Cole Ormont]

Cole smiled lopsidedly, "okay, you have me there. May I ask you, is your distrust something personal, or a trait ingrained in all Sith?"

[Layne Hoshin]

"Both," she said enigmatically.

[Cole Ormont]

Cole murmured, "I'm sorry to hear that. You seem very young. I wonder," he ran a hand through his hair, "I should like to introduce you a friend of mine, Ashla. She is in training to be a Jedi, don't hold that against her. She's about your age."

[Layne Hoshin]

"I've met many Jedi," she said with an unimpressed shrug, "including those of my age."

[Cole Ormont]

"Have many of them seemed much like you? Frustrated, angry? distrusting?" though his tone was gentle, he was aware how easily that could be interpreted as pity or condescension. "You remind me of her. Straight forward and tough as nails. But it's a tough galaxy without allies."

[Layne Hoshin]

"Sounds like a sith. And I don't really like sith."

[Cole Ormont]

Cole smiled his charming, lopsided smile, "and yet, she's not. All the more reason you should meet her. I won't twist your arm, but think about it, yeah?"

[Layne Hoshin]

"Sure," she answered, "whatever. I'll fit her in between all the fighting and killing."

[Cole Ormont]

"I'm sorry she's not here, actually. Before the Hutts decided to burn one of the clinics down, she was helping me out. She's an accomplished doctor in her own right."

Cole threaded his fingers together, steepling his long index fingers and touching them to his lips. "I hope you're right about Jo'ren. I would like to get to know him better before I leave Nar Shaddaa. Not a lot of time left for that."
