Shoot Like a Pirate Day!

Event Type: Space Combat, Pirate Queen Arc
Participants: 3 Ships (Must have a ship to participate)
Timeslots: Mid Morning

Scrutiny: Decrease current Scrutiny by -.4.
Description: The Duga Hal, a merchant liner is under attack by the Nova Devils! The distress signal is picked up in hyperspace just inside the Y’toub system and without aid the ship will be boarded and sacked by the pirates! Are you brave enough to fend off the pirates and aid the merchant vessel and possibly save some Hutt assets!

The distress signal says in Huttese, “This is the Duga Hal, we are under attack and need immediate aid! Much of the crew is dead, we need help, blast it!”

The voice is feminine and sounds Rodian.

Rules: Players have seven rounds to route or defeat the ova devils in space combat or the ship is overwhelmed and fully disabled at which point more pirates will arrive. This a Space Combat scenario, so man those battle stations! Ships that survive arrive at Nar Shaddaa in the Late Morning.

Rewards/Outcome: If the players are successful they increase the current Scrutiny by .3 and if the players fail then Scrutiny is further decreased by -.2.

Zeno hears the distress call and routes to the location when he comes out of hyperspace. "Umbral Vanguard on the way."

Potentially a useful way to help out the Hutts and improve their opinion of the Empire if I help out here.

It wasn't their job, to say the least. It wasn't their job to help with the peace, to save people.They just wanted to go in and land their ship..but it couldn't be ignore. He was not heartless, after all; just pragmatic. Besides, it was a chance to show off his skills for some potential buyers.

He turns to his co-pilot, and breathes in deeply. "Trouble with pirates near the moon. We're in a position to help." He goes a bit slow to give it some time.

"I won't go in without everyone agreeing. Craw, Durasay? What say you?"

Durasay was already acting on it, both by hailing the distressed vessel and punching in the coordinates. Something was tugging at his sense of justice, as well as the thrill of danger and adventure. Opening up the channel, he called out in huttese. "This is the Tortoise, Duga Hal. We're on an intercept course, hold on!"

Grinning widely, as he heard Craw call out. "Blast those honorless pirates into the void, Craw" he yelled back in Mando'a. "Punch it, Nudimsu!"

As the camera pans to the attack, the music swells as blaster fire lights up the space.

Fredtrey was following his approach vector to Nar Shaddaa when he heard the distress signal. He wasted no time and hit the ship's yellow alert button. He then flicked the intercom switch on the console.

"I've detected a distress signal, pirates are attacking a merchant vessel in our vicinity. Permission to engage!"

After receiving the green light and a quick nod to the senator, Fredtrey changed course to intercept and went on full throttle. He then switched to Red Alert, the alarms blaring on the ship's speakers and red lights switching on. He said on the intercom:

"General Quarters, we are now engaged against pirates, all hands man your battle stations!"

He then turned on his headset.

"Duga Hal, this is Swamp Dog, S.O.S. received, now engaging bogeys, sit tight and watch the light show."

He took a brief pause.

"Umbral Vanguard, Tortoise, this is Swamp Dog, currently at 78km distance, approaching civilian ship from the lower starboard side, vector 278 mark 5, check your fire, over."

Fredtrey smiled, a rare occurrence. He then pet briefly the ship's control panel.

"Time to see what you've got, baby."

The three craft drop out of hyperspace right into a hail of blasters as four pirate star fighters harass a merchant vessel it is smoking and in a spin. The fighters break off from the ship and come in formation towards the three space craft on an intercept course!

The lead pirate craft breaks off and accelerates to high speed gunning straight for the Umbral Vanguard moving for a strafing run! The auto cannon rips into the side of the ship but the armor thankfully holds under the intense fire!

OOC: There are three Pirates and a Pirate Ace all at Medium Range, the Players start at Speed 1, the Pirates are at Speed 2. Each player ship can have a max of three players act per initiative. Some maneuvers are only allowed by the Pilot, each ship gets at a minimum one Starship maneuver and one Starship Action, or two Starship Maneuvers.

Star Fighter Ace hits and does a total of 4 damage, Reduced to 2 By the Armor. Use 2 Advantage to activate Auto-Fire for another 4 damage, and the last 1 to give her next ally a boost die. For a total of 4 Hull damage.The Ace is now at Close Range with the Umbral Vanguard! The Ace used a Maneuver to Move into Close Range. The Pirate starfighters have Defense 1 in the forward arc and the Ace has Adversary for a free upgrade to any attack against her.

Durasay leans forward in the controls, his eyes scanning the incoming fighters. Noting the way they juked and moved in their attack patterns. Feeling the way the pilots thought, as his breathing slowrd.

"There! Fire along these points! " He called back, as he transferred the data to the targetting computer.

(Using one light side pip to count as a single success, then the other to add one more advantage. The next crew member aboard the Tortoise gainst a boost die to fire a weapon. Also, with three advantages, every hit from a shipboard weapon ALSO does an equal amount of system strain, till the beginning if MY next turn. Fire away!)

Fredtrey engages one to the pirate call signs that do not seem to be the lead element, hoping to score an early kill in the fight. He adjusts course, increases the throttle and flies straight towards the enemy.
He aligns the enemy in his sights and switches fire mode to automatic.
"Got him in the sights, firing now."

[I perform accelerate to go to speed 2, then fly to move to close range, then fire in automatic (upgrades difficulty by one), I assume I am firing at the enemy's front, I add 1 setback for defence)

Craw hurries into the turret seat just as the action starts. He straps in, aims... And fires. The bolt connects with a fighter's wing, sending out sparks. Craw cheers and in a triumphant voice that could be heard in the cockpit without radio exclaims: "YEAH! TAKE THAT SHITHEEL!"

The Tortoise moves into close range with a pirate ship and that allows Craw to strike hard causing the fighter to spin as the engine’s sputter and goes sailing by as it looks like much of the internal systems have shorted out!

One Pirate follows the ace’s lead and homes in on the Umbral Vanguard and makes a strafing run but the nimble craft easily evades the strike as the Sith pilot was far too experienced to fall for such a simple maneuver.

Meanwhile another Pirate turns his attention to the Tortoise and misses with his cannons as he makes a strafing run but the blasts unluckily graze a power system making the targeting systems go haywire!

The last pirate to make their run closes in on the Night Sabre and strikes critical systems causing some internal explosions as the ship are rocked by the damage!

OOC: Will ghost the Pilot to maneuver into Close range, the damage done is reduced to 4 but the system strain exceeds that of the ship and it is now just drifting harmlessly!

The Ace is now at Close Range with the Umbral Vanguard! The Ace used a Maneuver to Move into Close Range. The Pirate starfighters have Defense 1 in the forward arc and the Ace has Adversary for a free upgrade to any attack against her.

First Pirate moves to Close Range with the Umbral Vanguard and misses. Second Pirate misses but uses Triumph to upgrade the Gunnery checks of the Tortoise by 1, and Pirate 2 suffers 2 System Strain. Pirate 3 suffers 2 system strain and does 6 system Hull damage and generates a Critical Hit!

Zeno fires at the Pilot ace that is on him after making a few turns to get a bead on him, blasting him with a well placed shot from his lasers. He increases his ships speed during the firing maneuver to keep the dog-fight competitive.

The Pirate ace tries to maneuver but Zeno is far to accurate and puts an end to the ace with a well placed shot! Meanwhile the remaining pirate frantically does what he can to recover systems and jump starts his craft but the act blows fire control and his weapons are out!

OOC: Pirate 4 restores 2 system strain to his ship. With the threat he blows his weapon systems but he can fly! Uses Maneuver to get to Speed 1.

The pirate continues to assault Zeno and lands rapid but damaging strikes on his space craft! Smoke and fire erupt, but the ship is still hopefully operational! His skill spurring his allies to greater savagery despite their loss.

Zeno maneuvers to try and fire on the pirate that just hit him, but fails to strike. The shot was lined up well however because it pushes the Turtle's current target into it's firing line as the enemy pirate has to maneuver out of the way of the errant laser blasts.

OOC: Action: Attack misses, Maneuver: accelerate, 1 advantage give boost die to next allied roll, give 1 boost die to the gunner of the Turtle
